Match Report

Wrexham opened their pre-season campaign with a 'Behind Closed Doors' friendly with neighbours Chester. Both sides took the opportunity to try out new ideas, including a spell playing to the Watney Cup 'no offside outside penalty area' rules.

Manager John Neal refused to divulge the result but did comment: "We had full sides out and as far as we were concerned it was good preparation for our forthcoming big matches against Liverpool and West Bromwich."
