Having originally been drawn to play Rhyl in the first round of the Cheshire League Cup, the League Committee decided that clubs belonging to the English League could not take part in the competition. As such, Wrexham, Chester, Tranmere, Crewe, Stockport and Port Vale were expunged from the competition.
